Campaign V2

Last Updated: Dec 14, 2016 08:47AM PST

Overview:

Based on the campaign related feedback collected from last 18 months, we have put this together into a feature set that will help you, our customers, communicate better and help your users concentrate on the important things. You can try it out yourself at ideas.ideascale.com and greencv2.ideascale.com. There are couple of highlights

1) The ability to select a different stage flow for each campaign.
2) A dramatic improvement in the functionality of the campaign set-up.
3) An upgrade to the front-end user interface.

Before getting started, here is a quick reminder of the timetable for release:

On October 21, 2016 we have released a functionality that allows you to self-upgrade at a time that suits you and your community. 3 weeks later, on November 13th, the voluntary upgrade period will end and our system will automatically upgrade all communities to the new functionality. You should be able to self-upgrade by accessing Community Settings>>Checklist>>Upgrade Now

A more intentional homepage:

The new home page has several features that our customers have been asking for, for quite some time;
1) A full -length banner image to bring a strong visual identity to your community
2) A more prominent submit button,
3) A campaign preview that appears as you hover over each campaign in the list and

Community Colors:

In addition, we have taken the time to design a very intentional use of accent colors and positioning. We have taken a 3-color approach, focusing on highlighting the key bits of information and calls to action within the community. In the example above you can see how the highlight colour (darker shade of Red) is used to denote key information, such as the submit button, the idea title and the new (and optional) view campaigns button. Shades of Red then permeate through the app, with the completed vote marked with a Red accent that doesn’t distract from the user's browsing. One of the things we are most excited about in this release is that each customer will be able to customize which 3 colors they want to use with a simple administrative setting with which you can simply copy the hex numbers contained within your organizational design guidelines:

Persistent Submit Idea button:

Part of this renewed focus on highlighting the correct actions within our community is the introduction of small, but important improvements for the overall usability of the platform. One of my personal favorites is the persistent submit button; as the page scrolls past the submit button a new one will appear in the header ensuring that your users always have somewhere to submit.

Campaign View:

First, we have provided a new campaign description box. This allows for the addition of images, titles and a brief description of you campaign without the need for CSS and HTML (see below). If you have been using custom messages created using HTML then those will still be there, all the elements below are optional and we will launch with them turned off, so as not to interrupt your existing campaign descriptions.

Secondly, we have added the ability to generate a full campaign brief. This is accessed by clicking “more details” on the campaign description and opens a new page where you can provide rules, encouragement and inspiration for your end users in much greater detail than was ever possible before. We have provided an example over the page, showing (1) a campaign brief focused on inspiration and rewards alongside (2) the new campaign funnel description.

We have also updated several long-running annoyances with the old design, including removing the conflict that caused the campaign countdown to obscure the search bar.

An enriched campaign view:

We have made several improvements to increase the branding and messaging you can give to campaigns, without every using HTML.
