Global System Settings: Abuse Notification Threshold

Comment flagging allows you to leverage your community to assist in moderating your community. Anyone that is a member of your community can flag a comment.

How does comment flagging work?

Users have the ability to "Flag" comments thereby reporting abuse. Moderators will be notified by email, once the threshold for notification is reached.

Is the Threshold (for notification) customizable?

Yes. You can define the threshold as a numeric value that is greater than 0 (setting the value to 0 disables comment flagging). To edit the setting:

Login >> Select Community >> Global (left nav) >> Abuse Notification Threshold (under System Settings) >> Enter value >> Click 'Save Changes'

Where can I moderate all comments in one place?

You can view all the comments in your moderation queue by logging into your community and switch to the moderation mode (click the "Moderation" link in the upper right hand corner). In the left nav, click "Comments" to see a list of all the comments to be moderated.

Who will get notified?

All the moderators for the IdeaScale site will be sent an email. The email will contain a link to the Idea. Moderators can then delete the idea/comment as appropriate.

I don't want ALL the moderators to be notified. Can I choose which moderator will be notified?

No. At this point, either all the moderators will be notified or you can disable community flagging and moderation.

Is there a way to DISABLE community moderation?

Yes - If the threshold is set to ZERO flagging is disabled.

What happens when the threshold is reached?

When the threshold for abuse notifications is reached, the system will automatically put the comment in a "Pending Moderator Approval" status. All the moderators will get notified via email. The moderators can then either "Approve" the comment or "Delete" the comment. If the comment is Approved by the moderator the comment will then re-appear in the idea. User will NOT be able to flag that particular comment since that has now been manually approved by the moderators.
