What is the difference between creating an owner account and joining a community?
Creating an owner account at IdeaScale.com is not necessary to simply contribute to an existing community. If you are interested in creating your own IdeaScale community, then you would need to create an IdeaScale owner account at http://ideascale.com. To join a community as a member, one typically navigates to the community URL and registers there.

I am already registered at one IdeaScale community and would like to contribute to another community. Do I need to register a second time for the new community I'd like to join?
No.
If you are already a member of one IdeaScale community, you need not register again, just follow these instructions:

  • Type the URL of the community you'd like to join.
  • Click on Log In in the upper right corner with the credentials you used to register for your first IdeaScale community.
  • Once logged in, click on "Join this Community" from the black bar.

Complete whatever community-specific fields are required and accept the community's Terms of Service by clicking on the check box displayed.

Click on Save changes.

You will get an message saying "Community Profile Updated!". Click on Close. If there is no user moderation at the community, you are now a member. If user moderation is in place at the new community, your membership might be held up until the moderator of the community accepts your request to join.

I'm new to IdeaScale and would like to contribute to a community. Do I have to register?
Yes.
All contributors at IdeaScale communities must be registered. Type the URL of the community you are planning to join. If you attempt to submit an idea, you will be prompted to login/register now.

Follow the registration process and verify your email address by clicking on the link sent to your inbox.

Clicking the link from your email will bring you inside your new IdeaScale account where you will set your password and then complete your community profile. Complete all required fields.

You will see the message "Community Profile Updated" and you can close the message.

Once this is done you are a registered member of Ideascale. Now you can participate in all community activities like voting, submitting ideas, and commenting. You can also create your own community.

I am member of an existing IdeaScale community and want to create my own community. Do I need to create a new IdeaScale account?
No.
If you're an existing IdeaScale member and you'd like to create a community of your own, go to your Profile from the dropdown on the upper right hand corner on black bar menu. Go to Profile>>Communities>>Create New Community

I'm new to IdeaScale. How do I create an IdeaScale account and host my own free community?

  • Visit http://ideascale.com and click any of the "Get Started for Free" button.
  • Provide and confirm your email address and a password.
  • Prove you're human by typing the Captcha words and click the checkbox to "Accept Terms of Service".
