Generally, when an idea is submitted to IdeaScale community where moderation is enabled, the idea is held in a Pending queue until a moderator changes its status from Pending to an active status.

Basic Group Moderation adds an addition to the traditional moderation allowing Group Moderators as well to moderate ideas along with the Campaign Moderators and Global Moderators. Any one of these moderators can moderate ideas.

Advanced Group Moderation adds an additional tier to the traditional moderation paradigm allowing for a two-step approval process, if the Strict approval is enabled from settings

 SETUP

Group Moderation uses Member Profile questions of the type "Single Choice" as base to create groups. Hence before embarking on the actual setup, ensure Member profile question of the type "Single Choice" is created .

Members having the same answers to Member Profile question are clubbed together under one group.

 1) Group Based Moderation : -  Choose the type of Group Moderation - "Community Level Group Based Moderation " or "Campaign Level Group Based Moderation" .

 2)  New Member Group . Click on this button to create a New Member Group eg. "Administration" , and Save Changes.

The newly created Member Group "Administration" would now be seen under this section "Member Groups for Group Based Moderation" .

 Adding Member to the Group

Manage Criteria :-  Clicking on "Manage Criteria" button (seen in the above screenshot) will open up the option to select a group from existing groups whose members will be pulled into the newly created group/criteria for moderation.

In order to assign the members into the group we can set the member profile questions as required from the assignment method tab for the group created.

In the above screenshot the method of assignment used is by Member Profile Field. By ADD NEW in the Member Profile Criteria we can set the group for the community level group based moderation.

Below is the final step towards setting up a group based moderation which would be Adding Group Moderator.

Search box in Group Based Moderation

This search box helps you to easily search for groups in groups based moderation. Using the name of the groups in search box allows you to find the specific group easily.
Please Note: Search box is available only for community level group based moderation.

 Adding Group Moderator

In the section " Member Groups for Group Based Moderation" , below the column "Moderators" , click on the number appearing in blue color (refer to the screenshot above) .

A new page where Group Moderators can be added is seen . Click on the "Add Moderator" button .

Enter the email address of the member of the member who has to be assigned as Group Moderator and click on the "Search" button . The Search Results shows the members name . Click on the "Make Group Moderator" button to assign the member as a Group Moderator for that group. A Member group can have more than one Group moderator.

Group Moderators can also be Assigned or Unassigned from Community Settings >> Security >> Moderators

A separate head is created for each member group and the group moderators are listed below the respective member groups.

 Strict Approval

Strict Approval is advance form of Group Moderation and requires two-step approval process before the idea becomes Active .

The settings for Strict Approval will be visible to the Administrator only if New Ideas Approval is enabled from Community Settings >> Security >> Moderation Settings.

If New Ideas Approval is not enabled, the Administrator sees the message shown in the screenshot below. He can click on the word "here" to access the Moderation Settings and enable "New Ideas Approval"

Once the "New Ideas Approval" is enabled the Administrator would see the Strict Approval Moderation setting .

Turning On “Strict Approval” extends Group Moderation to require two levels of moderation before an idea is made Active.

Approval Order :- The Administrator can choose to either have

Group Based Approval First : The Group Moderator has the precedence to approve the idea first

 or

Campaign Based Approval First : A Campaign Moderator has the precedence to approve the idea.

Once a Group Moderation is setup for a community , the "Profile Information Page" of the member will show the "Group" to which he belongs and the names "Group Moderators" . The member can send a Private Message (PM) to the Group Moderators .
